About Bornholm – the Sunshine Island in the Baltic Sea

Bornholm is one of Denmark’s most beautiful holiday destinations – an island with a very special charm, combining dramatic nature, historic attractions, child-friendly beaches and a cosy food and arts culture. It is no coincidence that Bornholm is known as the Sunshine Island: the island has significantly more sunshine and fewer rainy days than the rest of Denmark.

Bornholm is located in the Baltic Sea and has around 39,000 inhabitants and a coastline of 141 km. The island has a good road network and a fantastic network of cycle paths – perfect for families who want to explore the island by bike.

Getting to Bornholm

There are two easy ways to travel to Bornholm:

Ferry from Køge with Bornholmslinjen – approx. 5–6 hours, ideal if you are bringing your car Flight from Copenhagen Airport with DAT – approx. 35 minutes
